The Land of Uz
The location of Uz where Job resided is uncertain. "The customs, vocabulary, and references to geography and natural history relate to northern Arabia." Job 1:19 indicates that it was near a desert and Job 1:3,14; 42:12 suggest that it was fertile for agriculture and livestock-raising, and it was probably outside Palestine (The Bible Knowledge Commentary of the O.T., by Walvoord and Zuck, ©1985, pp. 718-719). Some think it was in the area of Edom, southeast of the Dead Sea.
