Chronological Bible Studies

The best way to | read | study | the Bible is Chronological; 3 simple reasons

The best way to read or study the Bible is chronological. Why is this the best way? There are at least 15 good reasons, but let’s stick with 3 good reasons to chronologically read or study the  Bible.

1. Because you get the Whole Story

Ever tried to watch a movie or read a text, email, or letter from somewhere in the middle? You get lost and perhaps are never able to figure it out.  From the very beginning, we learn who God is, what he’s like, and our purpose in life. That’s important in today’s world because so many haven’t been brought up in church and are clueless.

2. It Prevents Errors

If you’re a parent, boss, or employer, have you ever tried to settle a dispute with your children or coworkers? You only get bits and pieces of the story, the parts that make them look good, but usually not the whole truth. If you start somewhere besides the beginning of the Biblical story, you could get very erroneous ideas about God and what he wants from each of us. There are all kinds of preachers and teachers of the Bible. Many take Bible verses out of context or don’t consider all of God’s  Word when instructing others. How are we to know who is telling the truth? By reading and studying the Bible in its proper chronological order. What’s the advantage of that?

3. You can Increase your Understanding

Maybe you are like I was. I couldn’t understand the occasions of the Psalms (the Hebrew songs of the Bible), why they were written, and by whom.  Another confusing thing was how the kings and prophets fit together. Since the collection of  Psalms is in one book, and since the prophets are in their own section, how could I know why they were written? Another thing that confused me was four gospel accounts of Jesus’ life. With the chronological Bible and these Bible studies, all these things are put in proper sequence, making them much easier to understand. This was an eye-opening experience. Not only did I learn the proper order, I learned why the writers wrote what they did, and I learned much more about the heart of God.
